 The hamster won't get off the wheel! February 25, 2010

I got this and a bunch of other Zhu-Zhu hamster accessories for the kids for Christmas. It snapped onto the house all right and the hamsters can find their way into it just fine. However, once they're in they can't get back out without help due to the shape of the tunnel. It gets even worse when there's more than one hamster in the hamster house. If there's already a hamster on the wheel and another one tries to get on, the tunnel is way too long for the 2nd hamster to back out of. I've seen them try and they wind up backing up about halfway before the gears send them forward again. Meanwhile, the hamster on the wheel will keep trying to turn off but the ramp keeps them from getting out and they wind up running on the wheel again. The only way to get them off is by taking them off manually.

This Zhu Zhu pet hamster wheel is very cute and fun for the kids. However, the durability and quality
of the plastic is not the greatest probably because it's made in China.

I bought the Zhu Zhu Pets for my seven year old granddaughter for Christmas, because she wanted them so badly! They were outrageously priced for the quality. I also purchased quite a few attachments with tunnels, etc. We worked together on the construction of the playground. If the hamsters go in the wrong direction at anytime, the tunnels fall apart very easily. We have to stop and put the pieces back together again. The clips are very flimsy!
My granddaughter and I played with them on Christmas and for the next couple of days. Up to her carpeted playroom they went (they do not work well on carpet!), and she has NOT played with them since Christmas! What a big waste of money! Never again! There is no educational value to these toys whatsoever! I DO NOT recommend!

My grandaughter is spoiled and usually gets what she wants. She is the first grandchild of course ! She takes very good care of her toys too though. She really enjoys these toys !

I purchased this hamster wheel for Zhu Zhu pets for my daughter's hamsters. It was easy to assemble and add on to the main "house." It is a lot of fun to watch the hamsters run into the tunnel and then run in the wheel. The only thing I find is that some of the hamsters (my daughter has Num Num, Mr. Squiggles, and Pipsqueak) fall over when in the wheel and must be "righted" before they can continue. After a while the hamsters sometimes do find their way out of the wheel and back into the tunnel that connects to the main house. With multiple hamsters sometimes Pipsqueak will be in the wheel and Mr. Squiggles will enter the tunnel causing a bit of a problem in the wheel which must be attended to before both hamsters fall over. My daughter really enjoys watching the pets run in the wheel and it doesn't take up much space. Overall it's great fun!
